The Challenge
Before the rebuild, the site had several structural problems that were limiting how effectively the business could operate online.There was no native product management. The hire catalogue relied on Booqable, a third-party rental tool, which meant the client had limited control over how products were presented, categorised, and maintained.
There was no quotation or request workflow integrated into the site. Customers had no way to build and submit a hire request without leaving the website environment. There were no customer accounts. Logged-in users could not track their requests or manage their relationship with the business through the site.
Navigation was flat. With 200+ products loading simultaneously on the hire page, filter performance was slow and customers had no structured entry point into the catalogue. Mobile browsing had not been considered carefully. Product layouts pushed key actions below the fold and the overall experience on phone and tablet was inconsistent.

WooCommerce Build and Quote System
We replaced the Booqable integration entirely with a full WooCommerce product infrastructure. This gave the client direct ownership of their catalogue, pricing, and product presentation for the first time.
The build included a complete product catalogue migration, variable product and attribute configuration, colour variations, and a consistent image specification. Category and collection taxonomy was structured to support both browsing and SEO.
For quotation, we implemented the YITH WooCommerce Request a Quote plugin, building a workflow that reflects how the business actually operates. Customers browse the hire catalogue, add products to a quote list, and submit it directly from the site. Both the admin team and the customer receive a branded email with full quote details on submission. Logged-in customers have their quotes saved to their account. Guest submissions can be associated with an account on registration. All notifications route to the sales team for action.
Customer account functionality was built and connected, so registered users can track their quotes and manage their relationship with the business entirely on-site.

Six hire categories, clearly signposted from the main navigation. Built for browsing, designed for the way customers actually shop.
Mobile Experience
The mobile product grid was updated to a two-column layout, which better reflects how customers browse on phone and tablet. Product image display was reviewed to prevent the add-to-quote button being pushed below the fold by stacked images.
We also built and launched a custom horizontal scroll image gallery to replace vertically stacked product images on mobile and tablet. This keeps the core action visible on screen without requiring excessive scrolling, and gives customers a cleaner, faster way to review hire products on their phones.
Outcome
The Furniture Rental Company now operates a hire platform that is fully owned and maintained within their own WooCommerce environment. Customers can browse a structured catalogue, build a quote, and manage their account entirely on-site. The sales team receives clean, branded notifications and can action requests without manual workarounds.
Since launching in April, quote enquiries are up by around 20%. Alongside that, the build delivered a 10/10 deliverability score, a significantly faster and more navigable catalogue, and a mobile browsing experience that works the way customers expect.
Ongoing work includes email automations, a Recent Events portfolio section, and recurring analytics reviews.
